We left you with the foundations of what was to become our clients modern, luxurious retreat.
We’ve done the dirty work, and we’re about to bring in the design to make this shower fit the brief. Here’s what happened next…
We’ve set to waterproofing – a vital component of any bathroom for damage prevention. Two layers of waterproofing are applied to the floor and walls, along with special taping to
ensure no gaps can get a sneaky leak!
Once waterproofing is done the tilers return to create their masterpiece.
Tilers are essentially large scale jigsaw puzzle experts. Tiling is a real art – it takes a lot of skill and knowledge.
Once floor tiles are down we leave this to dry overnight, ensuring the glue has dried hard enough to be stepped on.
Next up: walls.
You can see we have opted for a feature wall. These tiles are aptly named
Marvel Agata Azul (they look like agate crystal slices) for our crystal loving clients!
Our tilers have taken the perfect square cut out of the 2nd tile from the top and recessed it back into the niche, leaving the tile looking complete.
We pride ourselves on design, and you’ll notice we’ve chosen to use different tiles than the existing white marble porcelain ones.
We’ve added in a stunning tile that compliments both the feature wall and the existing tile beautifully.
As the white marble tile is used on the nib (the raised up edge the glass sits on) it makes the design feel like it has created a border between the shower and the rest of the bathroom seamlessly.
After tiles are completely installed they are left to dry overnight.
On day 3, the grout is applied in all of the gaps.
The key to grout is making sure the colour you choose blends with the tiles, so they don’t act as a feature – rather something that recesses into the background. The same concept should be considered for silicone. No one colour suits all tiles!
Enter the electrician.
They’re here to reconnect the stunning feature lights in the niche.
Feature lighting can bring a dash of colour and a feeling of luxury into your bathroom space.
The Magenta team are back in to work their magic (along with our little apprentice, he’s always a keen helper!).
The shower mixer is installed, along with the new shower slide, water is tested and we are good to go – once we have glass and a door installed that is.
As Nigel is trained in shower installations we did not require a glazier to come and install our old/new shower glass and door. We added new D-shaped handles and chrome channels for the glass. This helped add the ‘new look sparkle’ to the glass.
We scrubbed up the glass using a product call Bar Keepers Friend.
This is an amazing product that easily removed the white calcium stain off the glass and chrome fixtures, leaving everything looking shiny and new!
Finally, we leave the glass to set for 24hrs before we give the all ok to use the shower for the first time.
Hello. remarkable job. I did not imagine this. This is a impressive story. Thanks!
Muchas gracias. ?Como puedo iniciar sesion?
Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the pictures on this blog loading? I’m trying to find out if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
