Although relatively modern, this shower suffered irreversible impact damage causing it to leak onto the wooden floors beneath, causing mould and rot. While this shower is by no means outdated or old, impact damage has caused a leaking waste, meaning the sealant around the tile waterproofing is no longer waterproof.
The shower ‘waste’ is an important part of the plumbing where the water drains down through the invisi-tiling and catches in the waste which then carries waste-water from the home.
Water has been leaking around the waste into the wooden floors below the shower, causing dreaded black mould and damage to the flooring of this home. This level of damage unfortunately meant a full rebuild of the shower.
Magenta Industries were called in and together with our clients we developed the brief: to create a ‘modern, luxurious retreat which is calm and relaxing.’
Due to the original shower being only four years old, the goal was to re-use the mixer, rain-head and the shower glass – if possible. Potential implications such as tile damage or the possibility of the glass not coming out whole were discussed, and we were given the OK to get stuck in,

It’s demolition time!
With the help of our young apprentice, we got stuck in removing the damaged shower. We start with removing fixtures such as the mixers and showerheads, followed by the glass, tiles, walls, and debris.
Once all debris is removed and the site is cleaned up, damaged flooring is replaced and walls are relined, ready for the tilers to come in and work their magic.
Worried about the mess tradies often leave behind? Don’t be. We will always tidy up any mess created, leaving a worksite clean and tidy every day.
The tilers are responsible for laying the concrete slate on the floor creating the solid foundation for the floor tiles. The channel grate waste will be placed beneath the shower slide on the floor reducing the chances of the waste being stepped on again. The concrete slate is then laid with a natural fall leading down to the waste.
Now we’ve removed and repaired the damage and laid the foundations for this modern, retreat-style upgrade, it’s time to bring in the design aspect of this shower renovation.
